Honoring Your Foundation, Embracing Your Dedication

Newly Credentialed Midwife

Becoming a Certified Direct Entry Midwife (CDEM) is a significant milestone in a midwife's journey, marking a deep commitment to upholding the highest standards of care for expectant families. This program is designed for those who have recently been credentialed by another NCCA-accredited agency and wish to continue their path towards full recognition within the midwifery profession.

Midwifery is a calling as much as it is a science, built on a foundation of knowledge, proficiency, and compassion.

As a newly credentialed midwife, you’ve already demonstrated dedication to learning and growth, but the process of becoming a CDEM ensures that you meet the rigorous standards that guarantee safe and respectful care. The qualifications outlined here represent the culmination of both practical experience and formal education, creating a robust framework to safeguard the well-being of families and uphold the integrity of the profession.

In this program, we’ve outlined the essential steps you’ll need to take. We recognize the importance of your independent practice while also ensuring that every new midwife who steps into this role is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.

As you embark on this next phase, the journey requires a combination of reflection, documentation, and assessment. By meeting these requirements and passing the written CDEM exam, you’ll demonstrate not only your knowledge and skills but also your commitment to ongoing professional development. Your work as a midwife is more than a vocation—it’s a promise to the families you serve. This certification is both a reflection of your readiness and an invitation to continue growing in this sacred and transformative field of care.
